Learning the Art of Gratitude

Keeping a gratitude journal is one of the best ways that I have found to counteract depression and bring more happiness into my life. Every morning I sit in a peaceful space and write down 10 things that I am grateful for from the previous day. Sometimes they're simple things like the peaceful morning light shining into my window, and sometimes they're more meaningful like spending quality time with family or friends. They're different every day and they're always surprisingly easy to come up with.

Since I've learned the art of gratitude, my life has improved dramatically. It brings me a tremendous amount of happiness to focus on the good things in life. Many of the great spiritual masters teach that focusing on the good, will always bring more good. The opposite is true if you focus on the bad. Celebrities such as Oprah swear by this practice. Check out this page from Happier Human on the 31 benefits of gratitude. It's amazing how many benefits there are to such a simple practice.

Gratitude is one of the most medicinal emotions we can feel. It elevates our moods and fills us with joy.

I have recently created a FREE Facebook Group for Mindful Mamas With Spirited Kids to help people learn to seek within. All you need to do is follow the link above and click on the button to "Join Group". In this group we are currently working on gratitude, so each member has been asked to post one thing that they are grateful for each day. Please join us in gratitude.

In peace and happiness,
