Top 5 Essential Oils for Daily Use

What do anger, depression, and congestion all have in common? They can all be alleviated with essential oils! Essential oils have been used all over the world for thousands of years. They work WITH the body to alleviate symptoms of imbalance within. I've been using essential oils for the last three years to help assist my children with their ADHD symptoms and alleviate my own stress. Below are my five favorite oils that I use daily:

1. Jeddy's Blend (ADHD)
2. Vetiver (trouble sleeping)
3. Rose (anger)
4. Wild Orange (depression)
5. Peppermint (congestion)


I discovered these oils while on a quest to heal my boys' ADHD without traditional prescription medication. I was passionately opposed to medication because I believe that the body knows how to heal itself if you create the right environment for it to flourish. The Jeddy's blend oil, (created for a boy named Jeddy with ADHD) is one of the few things I found that actually helped!

My boys have come to know and love the way it smells. I roll a little bit onto the back of their neck every morning, or place some on one of my necklaces for them to wear. It helps to get them through the school day with calm and focus. In the evening I use a diluted Vetiver solution to roll onto the tips of their big toes to help them sleep because they often have trouble.

For myself, I typically use rose, wild orange, and peppermint. While I was studying Ayurveda I learned to use rose water to help calm my anger and anxiety. It's crazy how quickly a little spritz can immediately cool me off when I'm feeling really upset. Rose essential oil is difficult to make and very costly, so rose water can be a great alternative.  

The wild orange helps to uplift my spirits when I'm feeling depressed, and is my favorite go to oil for my necklace. The peppermint, I use on an as needed basis when I'm feeling a little stuffed up or congested. It always clears my airways right up.
