A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST
This photo was taken in May of 2017 at the Rocky Point Resort in Oregon near the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge. I rented a cabin at the resort for my 40th birthday because I always want to be on or near the water, so I figured my birthday was the perfect time to get exactly what I want. Happy Birthday to me!
As soon as we arrived, I dumped my bags in the cabin and rushed down to the water to get a peek. I was rewarded with this beautiful serene blue water and matching sky full of fluffy white clouds that all photographers adore.
This canoe was already there, tied up, just waiting for someone to take a ride. (I felt like it really added that extra element to the photo, so I kept it in the composition. The pop of red didn't disappoint!)
My youngest son and husband came down to the dock with me to check out the view. We stood there for a few moments soaking up the silence and releasing any resistance that had built up during the long drive from California.
Eventually, I snapped a couple of photos to capture the beauty of the moment and the scene before me. When I felt rejuvenated by the energy of the water, we went back to our cabin to kick off my birthday weekend.
I took many photos of this same spot during our stay, including sunrise and sunset, but none of them came out quite as brilliantly as this one. Exceptional photography has a lot to do with timing, and on that day, I happened to be in the right place at the right time!

Handmade functional art that does double duty! On the outside this looks like a beautiful piece of art floating in a modern rustic farm house style frame. On the inside, it's hidden storage for anything you'd like. It's shown here with hooks for jewelry*, but it could be used for holding other items like keys, mail, etc. Please email me at info@WhatYouSeekIsWithin.com if you'd like other options.
I created this piece as a solution to one of my most obnoxious problems, a messy bathroom. I prefer to keep my bathroom clean, but the amount of jewelry I have makes it difficult. I've had many jewelry boxes over the years, but none that really satisfied my needs. I love that I don't have to look at the clutter of all my jewelry, it's not taking up space on my counter, and the photograph provides a serene feeling as I get ready every morning.
